The workout you'll still be doing in March
You already know how a gym membership ends. This one has a curriculum, a rank you're working toward, and a room full of people who notice when you're not there.
What class looks like
Burn fat, build muscle, and learn something at the same time
An adult class is an hour of conditioning that happens to teach you to defend yourself. Warm-up, stance and technique work, pad rounds, forms, and self-defense against grabs, holds, and strikes. You'll sweat more than you would on an elliptical and you won't look at the clock once.
The difference from a gym is the rank structure. There's a next belt, a next form, a next standard — so “I'll go back next week” turns into a thing you're behind on rather than a thing you skipped.
- Effective fat burning and lean muscle, without a separate cardio plan
- Practical self-defense for real situations, taught with a resisting partner
- No prior fitness, flexibility, or coordination required — that's what training is for
- Train alongside your kids' schedule, or with your kids
- A clear path to black belt, at whatever pace your life allows
Who's actually in class
Adults who start here
The adult floor is not full of former athletes. It's full of people who decided to start.
The most common adult beginner at this school is a parent who watched from the side for a month and got tired of watching.
Thirties, forties, fifties, having done nothing athletic in years. You will be sore. You will also be in the right room.
Anyone who trained years ago and misses it. We'll place you honestly — not high to flatter you, not low to sell belts.
Self-defense
Skill that doesn't depend on being the bigger person
Adult self-defense here is taught the way it has to be taught to work: against grabs and holds, at close range, with a partner who isn't cooperating, repeated until the response doesn't require a decision.
We teach awareness and de-escalation first, because the technique you never have to use is the one that worked.
- Close-range defense against grabs, holds, and strikes
- Awareness and de-escalation taught as the first line, not an afterthought
- Controlled sparring for those who want it — optional, never required

Questions about this program
Do I need to be in shape first?
No prior fitness, flexibility, or coordination is required. You get in shape by training, not before it. Adults regularly start with us in their thirties, forties, and fifties having done nothing athletic in years.
How long does it take to earn a black belt?
It depends entirely on the student — how often they train, how they test, and what they bring to the floor. Some move quickly, some take longer, and we don't judge either one. What we will do is tell you honestly where you stand at every rank.
Can parents watch class?
Yes. Parents are welcome to stay and observe any class. Plenty of parents watch for a few weeks and then end up on the mat in the adult program themselves.
What does the $49 intro actually include?
Thirty days of classes in the program that fits your age and goals, plus a starter uniform to keep — a $284 value. There is no long-term contract attached to the intro, and no obligation at the end of it.
What are the class times?
Class times are set by age group and rank, and they shift with the school calendar, so we keep the current schedule off the public site. Request it with the form on this page and we'll send you the schedule for your age group along with the web special.
